Biologist by day

I am a full time consultant specializing in ecology based program development. My background is in herpetology (the study of reptiles and amphibians) so you may notice I lean towards a certain type of subject matter in my work! I consider myself very lucky to live in an area surrounded by an incredible array of species, ecosystems, and natural beauty - eastern Georgian Bay.

Nature Inspired

I grew up spending summers at my family cottage near Parry Sound, Ontario, which influenced my love of the outdoors. My childhood hobbies of catching frogs, snakes and turtles led me to pursue environmental studies and biology in school. After completing my undergraduate and Master’s degrees at McMaster University, I worked several jobs that took me all across Ontario. But I had my heart set on settling somewhere near our cottage and eventually landed a full-time position doing what I love in a place that I consider my true home, Georgian Bay. I feel very fortunate to have been able to turn my passion for the environment into my career and absolutely LOVE what I do. But I also love indulging my creative side which led to the opening of The Wooden Window.

If you’ve seen my work, it is clear that I am inspired by nature (especially reptiles!). Many of my pieces feature nature-based subject matter, but I also try and ensure all the materials for my work are sustainably sourced, recycled, or repurposed to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
